The Weight Management Centre runs free, high-profile, de-stigmatising, weight-loss programme for Portsmouth residents.
It is divided into male and female gender-specific programmes.
Fit Fans is the male programme and has links to Portsmouth FC's community schemes. The idea is to encourage men to get involved in physical activity as part of a team and get fit, rather than attend a 'weight loss club'.
Fit Fans 4 Her is the female programme, and gives a 12-week course in components of exercise and nutrition in a supportive group setting.
An initial one-to-one assessment is given, where the course of action is discussed and goals are set. Those taking part are monitored throughout the entire programme and given one-to-one sessions where necessary.
